Description of Practice

Heather Mechanic

Is your child showing signs of stress? Is your child having a hard time sleeping through the night? Are things that are out of their control becoming out of control crying fits instead of conversations at the dinner table? If the present climate is too much for your child to take, I know I can help, call me.
Based on recent news and reports of the world ending in 12 years, you have reason to be concerned if your child cannot articulate sound reasoning and cognitive skills. In order to help, I am now taking pre-teen children who have been exposed and are frightened by this idea.
Are you struggling with challenges that are more than “bumps in the road?” Are you encountering relationship difficulties with important people in your life? Maybe there has been a significant loss or change in your lifestyle? Alternatively, perhaps, you are at a crossroads in relating to your partner or teen aged child.
I offer a calm, safe and relaxing place for individuals, couples and family members to begin making sense of confusing and distressing difficulties. Often these involve depression, anxiety, stress and conflict with loved ones, sexual and intimacy issues, traumatic past and current experiences and self- defeating behavior patterns.
I am that sensitive, knowledgeable and insightful person who can help you gain the understanding and learn the skills needed to address the unresolved issues in your life as you work toward healthier relationships and a happier you.
I specialize in helping clients find relief through developing fresh creative visions of themselves and strengthening attachments and in their key relationships.
I have a successful practice spanning twenty plus years of experience as a Licensed Marriage, Family Therapist, Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) and Board Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatry and Mental Health. I have advanced training in Couple Therapy from the “Couple Institute.” I am also a member of the Association for Play Therapy with advanced education in Child & Adolescent Play Therapy.
